Change your perspective. See another world. Dare to escape reality.
Escality is a virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) games studio that believes in having fun with really cool technology.
In the summer of 2016, a small group of UCLA undergrads came together to make a game. As interests diverged, a subset of the group broke off and decided to work on VR.
Thus, Escality was formed, with the first project being a VR escape room, dubbed Project .08, where you play as a bartender's friend. You get taken hostage as you were delivering a package to him and end up locked in his bar as bait. Searching around the bar reveals to you that there's something bigger going on here; but wait, what was in that package? This project has been shelved for future development.
Escality also participated in Ludem Dare 38, a 3-day worldwide game jam, to conceptualize and prototype Conjuror's Eye, a VR puzzle-based progression game. You play as a wizard who receives a package from an old friend, but doesn’t adhere to the warning attached. As a result, you get sucked into a constantly shrinking enchanted artifact with magic puzzles scattered within that must be solved before the room collapses. Conjuror's Eye is Escality's first shipped title, released on March 14, 2018.
Escality is a team comprised of both creative and technical backgrounds. With a year of iterative development on newly released consumer VR/AR equipment (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Microsoft Hololens) and development software (Unity, Unreal, Vuforia, OpenCV, ARKit, ARCore), as well as previous team members' work at Unity Technologies, Intel Corporation, and UCLA research, Escality has the experience to complete a wide variety of projects, ranging from AR scavenger hunts to custom VR pilot research experiments.
Escality is also an alumni of the Startup UCLA Summer Accelerator Class of 2017.
